Abstract:This paper comparedthe sojourned with multi-ethnic cohabitated Han-Tibetan bicultural individuals on their cultural-ethnic cognition and cultural frame switching. The results showed that: 1) The sojournedTibetan bicultural individuals had higher scores in ethnic essentialism than the cohabitated ones; and for both Tibetans and Han bicultural individuals, the cohabitatedones achieved higher level of bicultural identity integration than the sojourned ones. 2) When primedwith cultural cues, different from the sojourned bicultural individuals, the cohabited ones did not show the effect of cultural frame switching. These results indicate that the sojournedand cohabitated bicultural individuals may have variedmental representation and experience organization patterns of the second culture.
