Abstract:Combined with the Advice Response Theory (ART) and Face Threatening Acts (FTAs), this study aims to explore the influence of Jijiang on advice taking and the boundary condition of this effect. We used an experimental study(N=127) to examine the positive effect of Jijiang on advice taking and explore the moderation of face consciousness in the context of the weight-loss task. The results showed that the relationship between Jijiang and advice taking was moderated by decision makers’ face consciousness. Specifically, compared with subjects with weak face consciousness, those individual with strong face consciousness would take more advice when Jijiang was used.
