Abstract:In recent years, China is facing the crisis of “low fertility trap”, the transition to ultra-low level of fertility has become a major challenge to its sustainable development. This study adopts the usage of both questionnaire methodology and experimental methodology to investigate the influence of fertility age limitation on fertility intention and the moderating effect of parents of the reproductive-aged group’ educational level. Results: (1) The closer the reproductive-aged group’ actual age was to the optimal fertility age, the stronger their fertility intention was; (2) The educational level of mothers of reproductive-aged group has a significant moderating effect between the two, while the educational level of fathers has no such significant moderating effect. This study is of great theoretical and practical significance to improve the fertility intention of the reproductive-aged group in China.
