Abstract:Based on moral identity model and prosocial behavior theory, the main goal of the presentstudy was to explore the influence mechanism of psychological abuse and neglect on volunteers’ engagement. A sample of 808 college student volunteers completed self-report measures. The results show that just world belief and moral identity mediated the relationship between psychological abuse and neglect and volunteers’ engagement. This current study reveals the underlying mechanism of the effect of psychological abuse and neglect on volunteers’ engagement, which enriches the research on belief in a just world and moral identity.
