Abstract：Aesthetic judgment refers to the evaluation process during appreciation which is based on the perception of aesthetic objects and the standards of aesthetic subjects. Sense of beauty refers to the detached mental pleasure induced by beautiful things. For aesthetic judgment, current neuroaesthetic studies mainly focused on its underlying brain activity, time process, and features (subjective experience and empathy). For sense of beauty, current neuroaesthetic studies mainly focused on its underlying brain activity, time process and features (rewarding and unconscious). The similarity and difference between aesthetic judgment and sense of beauty was discussed. Future studies should pay more attention to explore the common and different neural mechanisms of various aesthetic judgments, the relations between the rewarding nature and evolutionary, the mechanism of unconscious beauty and the application of current results.
