Abstract:The current study investigated the effects of social power based on dominance and prestige on the resource allocation of children aged 3 to 8 years old(N=541)in forced choice and free distribution situations. The results showed,in the forced choice situation, 3-to 8-year-old children were more likely to allocate more resources from the high social power to the low social power in dominant strategy, while they were more likely to allocate more resources to the high social power in prestige strategy. Also, in the free distribution situation, 7-to 8-year-old children distributed resources equally in dominant strategy, while 5-to 8-year-old children distributed more resources to the high social power in prestige strategy.
