Abstract:This study aimed to investigate whether short/long-term changes in COVID-19 and physical activity exerted an impact on memory functions. To provide insight into this question, 261 college students were invited to participate in the longitudinal study. All students completed online questionnaires and memory tasks. The results showed that with the short-term improvement in epidemic, there was no significant change in physical activity, but significant decrease in item memory and significant increase in source memory were observed. With the long-term improvement in epidemic, significant increase and decline were separately observed in physical activity and item memory. The increase of physical activity did not exert positive effect on memory functions. Therefore, the effect of COVID-19 on memory was direct, not through physical activity.
