Abstract:Child Development has been committed to disseminating and promoting cutting-edge research in the field of child development since its inception. By analyzing the papers published in the journal in recent 30 years, the present study explores the recent progress in the field of child development. The authors collected the titles and abstracts of empirical papers published in the journal in the past 31 years (1990-2021) to create a corpus, and used corpus-based extraction and co-occurrence visualization tools to quantitatively analyze the corpus. Results indicated that in the past 30 years, child development has always focused on children’s social emotional development, and has continued to strengthen the depth and expand the breadth of research through longitudinal research designs. The evolution characteristics of the thematic structure in the field of child development captured in this study indicates an increasing focus on children’s cognitive development, with particular emphasis on the influence of working memory on children’s cognitive development.
