Abstract:In the current study, a total of 1155 elementary and middle school students and their mothers or fathers were selected as subjects through two sub-studies to examine how maternal educational anxiety and paternal educational anxiety affect adolescent emotional and behavioral problems through maternal and paternal negative parenting styles respectively. The results showed that (1) both parental education anxiety and maternal education anxiety had a significant positive predictive effect on adolescent emotional and behavioral problems; (2) both maternal and paternal negative parenting styles had a mediating effect in the relationship between maternal education anxiety and adolescent emotional and behavioral problems; and (3) maternal negative parenting styles had a mediating effect in the relationship between paternal educational anxiety and adolescent emotional and behavioral problems.
