Abstract：Predictive mind theories based on the architecture of Active Inference have the potential to give a normative formal description of the dynamic coupling between man and media from the perspective of cognitive science, thereby revealing the essence of “metaverse” that has been deemed as the terminal point of Internet revolution. According the predictive mind theories, information media which is grounded, embodied and with greatly rich content will eventually become the cognitive niche or even the ecological niche of the Internet users’ digital living, supporting a new form of sense-making in the dynamics of man-media interaction, comparing to that in the physical world. At a larger spatiotemporal scale, under all these grand transitions lies the implicit theme of seesaw battle between man and media for the role of leading dancer in Active Inference.
