Validation of the Chinese Version of the Interaction Anxiety Scale in College Students

Abstract:In order to improve the screening efficiency of social anxiety among college students, the present study sought to revise the Chinese version of the Interaction Anxiety Scale (IAS) and test for its reliability and validity in Chinese college students. A total of 1020 college students were investigated with IAS, Revised Cheek and Buss Shyness Scale and Brief Fear Negative Evaluation Scale. Items validation, reliability, validity and cross-gender equivalence. According to the item analysis, the item 6 and item9 were deleted. The revised IAS in Chinese version includes two dimensions of tension and relaxation, and has good reliability and validity. In conclusion, Chinese version of the IAS can be used as a reliable tool to measure social anxiety among Chinese college students.
