Abstract:As a common emotion in humans, awe can affect an individual’s cognition and behavior. Especially awe has a significant impact on the prosocial behavior. Based on reviewing the impact of awe on prosocial behaviors, this paper explores the cognitive and neural mechanisms awe affecting prosocial behaviors from individual self, relational self and collective self. Future research could further clarify connotation and dimension of self, investigate into boundary conditions of awe influencing prosocial behaviors, attach importance to the effects of the awe influencing other prosocial behaviors, and explores the neural mechanisms awe affecting prosocial behaviors.
