The Influence of Shared Leadership on Team’s Idea Novelty-- Evidence from an experimental study

Abstract:Shared leadership is an emergent team property of mutual influence and shared responsibility among team members, whereby they lead each other toward goal achievement. In two series studies, the current research explored the influence of shared leadership on the team’s idea novelty.The research demonstrated that shared leadership facilitate team’s idea novelty through the mediation effect of transactive memory system, with the boundary condition of team goal orientation. The moderated mediation model was proved. The results contribute to our understanding of the internal mechanisms through which shared leadership facilitates team’s idea novelty. These findings also provide promising guidance to team and organizational innovation intervention.
