Abstract:To explore the relationship between psychological capital on altruistic behavior, and the mediating effect of volunteer role identity, the Psychological Capital Questionnaire, the Volunteer Role Identity Importance Scale and the Self-Sacrificial Altruism Scale were administered to 231 volunteers. The results showed that: (1) Volunteer’s psychological capital positively predicted volunteer role identity and altruistic behaviors;volunteer role identity positively predicted volunteer’s altruistic behaviors; (2) Volunteer role identity partially mediated the relationship between psychological capital and altruistic behaviors. Thus, psychological capital could affect altruistic behaviors directly, and also indirectly through volunteer role identity
